NOTICEBOARD

Important Changes to how you can order Prescriptions

From 1 October 2024 we will no longer be accepting prescription requests via email. We would like to encourage patients to sign up to the NHS app to order medications. The request will go directly into our computer system, reducing the risk of errors in your order and saving time in processing your request.

To assist you with downloading the NHS App, the link below shows you how to set it up on either your phone or computer:

For our patient who are not able to use the NHS app or Patient Access we will continue to accept prescriptions requests in writing or via your pharmacy of choice. Please note we do not accept requests made by telephone, all requests need to be in writing.

RSV Vaccination being offered from September 2024

There is a new vaccine being offered this winter- the RSV vaccine.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is an infectious disease that affects breathing.
It is common in young children but is most serious for small babies and older people, and can lead to hospital admission for treatment.
From September a single dose of the RSV vaccine to protect our most vulnerable and will be offered to:
🤰 Pregnant women over 28 weeks
🧓adults aged 75 to 79
The midwife should be offering the vaccination to pregnant women and the surgery will be inviting patients aged 75-79 to attend for vaccination. We will be in contact with eligible patients shortly

Flu Clinics - October 2024

NHS England have updated the flu contract this year which means we are not able to provide flu vaccinations to those clinically at risk or the over 65's until the start of October. The reason for this is that research has shown receiving the vaccination later provides better protection over the months where flu is most prolific.
We will be contacting all eligible patients towards the end of August to book into our flu clinics. We will be having 2 Saturday mornings clinics on 5th and 12th October where we hope to be able to vaccinate a majority of our patients. We will also be having further clinics during our normally working week for patients to book into who cannot make these dates.
We are awaiting further information before we decide whether we will be offering Covid vaccinations this autumn. We will of course update patients when we have made a final decision on this.

Update on log in for Patient Access

For patients who use the Patient Access App/web site to order medications or view their clinical record, the system providers are now requiring patients to set up two-factor authentication. This means in addition to the normal password and username, they will require you to use an authenticator app to generate a code each time you log in. This code will be entered into the log in screen along with your password and user name. The link below provides more detail on how to do this.
The alternative is to start using the NHS App which doesn't have this requirement, but will involve needing to install the NHS app on your phone or PC.

Practice Closure for Training - Wednesday 17th July 2024

The surgery will be closed during the afternoon of Wednesday 17th July for staff training.
If you require urgent medical assistance during this time which cannot wait until we re-open, please call NHS 111 for advice or in an emergency 999.

Contact Us Online

You can contact us about a medicaladministrative or prescription issue by clicking Here

This short online form is the quickest and simplest way for the majority of our patients to access or clinical team for assistance. Our practice phone lines remain open for anyone with accessibility needs who might find difficulty completing this form.

Please do not use this online form for urgent or emergency requests. The submitted forms will only be read during office hours. The forms will not be read on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) or on bank holidays. They will not be read Monday-Friday between the hours of 1800 – 0900.

Please contact 111 during out of hours or 999 if this is an emergency.

Repeat Prescription Requests

If you require a repeat prescription then the request for the medication you want needs to be made in writing.
We do not accept medication requests over the phone

You can make requests for medication in the following way:
• By sending an email to admin.miltonsurgery@nhs.net
• By using the online service or NHS app
• By placing the repeat prescription slip or a written note detailing your name, date of birth, medication required and pharmacy you would like to collect medication from in the letter box at the surgery

Please note that we require TWO working days to issue a prescription.

Please ensure that you request your medication in plenty of time. Your nominated pharmacy will also need time to dispense the medications so we would advise you put your prescription request in 5-7 working days before you need to start taking the medication.

Same Day GP Appointments

Please note the same day GP appointments open at 8am each morning and are bookable by calling the surgery on 01223 420511. Please do not come to the surgery in person at 8am to make an appointment. The reception staff are busy taking phone calls at this time for those who need a same day appointment and it is not fair on those who have waited on the phone for an appointment if others come into the surgery to book.
